Day 8

John Thomas continues to make great strides in physical therapy with Ms. Yvette.  She really pushes him; yet, so sweet at the same time.   He will be in a wheelchair until he can bear more weight on his right side.  Then will transition to a walker or crutches.  Each day he is able to do a little more than the day before and the pain is better.  We're weaning him off  the pain medicine, and he's been a real trooper!

I think the best part of his day was when he was able to FaceTime with 1B and Mrs. Wszolek!  Look at that face!  He misses his classmates so much!  Thank you, 1B, for putting a smile on his face!  You are the best medicine!

Mr. Greg came and worked on golf skills with the kids today.  John Thomas really like it!

We are leaning on His everlasting arms at this point.  Thank you for your continued prayers and love for Mr. Man and our family.

Day 7

Today was a good day but still a lot of tears!  We accomplished a lot of  "firsts" for us.  First ride in the car, first pin cleaning by ourselves, etc.  We were visited by Super Heroes that brought gifts for the kids.  John Thomas picked out a nerf gun, of course!

Tonight we said good-bye to Noah and the Johnson family.  After being here since September, Noah finished his "lengthening phase" and gained 8 cm, of growth....truly amazing!  He and John Thomas really hit it off!  Even though we just met a week ago, it feels like we have been friends a long time.

Tonight we are exceptionally tired and are still trying to gain strength mentally and physically. Tomorrow will be another day of physical therapy and getting used to the "new normal".  As always, thank you for your prayers.

Day 6

Today was yet another roller coaster.....ups and downs.  We survived our first physical therapy session and loved seeing our angel, Jennifer Scott.  She is such a ray of sunshine for everyone!  We miss her so much at FUMC, but she is sharing God's love in West Palm Beach working for Dr, Paley.

Tomorrow we will continue our physical therapy and have another intense pin cleaning session!  Yikes!  Claiming this verse tonight:

Thank you for your continued prayers.

Day 5

What an amazing birthday today was!  I sure missed my Jules and friends and family but today is a birthday that I will never forget.  Today my wish was for John Thomas to get his pain under control and to be motivated to visit with kids here at Quantum House.  We have met a precious family - the Johnson's from Chicago.  The parents have 4 children of their own and have adopted 2 boys from China, Noah and Asa.  This is a picture of his friend Noah.  Noah was adopted  4 years ago and has undergone 18 surgeries!  He is such an inspiration for everyone who meets him!  He has been here since September with limb lengthening and may get to go home at the end of this week.

The kids here made me birthday cards and sang happy birthday to me this morning.  John Thomas got to blow out the candle!

I received beautiful flowers today!

Thank you for making this day so special!  John Thomas starts intense physical therapy tomorrow. Thank you for your continued prayers.  Here's one thing we have definitely witnessed:

Day 4

We were discharged from the hospital today!  Oh happy day!  Praise the Lord!

We are so grateful to be at our home away from home (Quantum House) and out of the hospital.  Phew!  We are anxious about physical therapy and life with a fixator.  Mr. Man is still in a lot of pain and trying to find a bit of normalcy in the midst of chaos.  We are clinging to this verse:

Day 3

Thank you for your prayers for rest!  John Thomas had a great night and was greeted with this balloon bouquet from his 1B classmates and Mrs. Wszolek.  It was wonderful to see Mr. Man's smile again.

The morning was pretty busy with physical therapy.  We're working on transitioning from the bed to the wheelchair, to the walker, etc.  They are keeping us another night in the hospital, because the transitions are so hard for him right now.  If he has a good physical therapy session in the morning, he will be discharged.  We will go stay at the Quantum House, and he will be around other kids who can help him.

Our prayer is for John Thomas to find strength (God Power is what he says), to be strong enough to move around tomorrow.  Please pray for God to give Brad and myself the wisdom and knowledge to help him with his "new normal"  Again, we couldn't do this without you...your prayers, messages, and FB comments are such a blessing to us.  We feel wrapped up in the Mighty Healer's arms,,,and for that we are forever grateful.

Day 2

We had a really rough night last night!  We knew it was going to be hard but last night was one of the hardest things to witness!  The nurse couldn't really control his pain and after many calls to the doctor and dealing with "Momma Bear", she was able to give some relief.  As soon as he fell asleep, they were in to take blood, etc.  Everyone says the hospital is not a place for sleep.....I totally agree.  Today, through a lot of tears, he was able to transfer to a wheelchair and go around the hospital for a bit.

The following picture is John Thomas in the playroom.....a little less than thrilled and you can tell by his precious face, he's hurting.
John Thomas:  "Why do I have to have this fixator and be in the hospital?  Why do I have to hurt?"
Parents:  "We don't know the answers to those questions and in fact; we're wondering the same thing ourselves.  But have you heard the word FAITH?"
John Thomas:  "yes"
Parents:  "Do you know what that means?"
John Thomas:  "kinda"
Parents:  "It means believing and hoping with all of your heart that Jesus is going to take care of us...no matter how bad it looks right now.  We have to believe that and take it day by day."
John Thomas:  "OK"  (tears running down his face)

Oh how our hearts hurt right now. Please, dear Jesus, take away this pain and heal our boy!

John Thomas misses his sister very much...we all do.  He was able to FaceTime with her but was really too weak to carry on much of a conversation.  He also misses his puppy, Paisley. He loved his picture from her.

Dr. Paley thinks we may be released tomorrow....just depends on how well he can get around.   We'll go back to Quantum House after he's released and start the dreaded physical therapy. Thank you for your prayers.....they're carrying us through this dark time.

We're praying for an amazing 2016,
